Mechanical Assembly Technician / Machine Builder for a dutch company

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembly Technician / Machine Builder with a strong hands-on background in assembling, fitting and installing industrial machinery.

This is not a design, QA or supervisory position. We are specifically looking for someone who has spent several years physically building and assembling machines, working from technical drawings and solving mechanical issues during assembly and installation.

The right candidate can develop further into commissioning and international field service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble complete industrial machines and mechanical systems
• Perform mechanical fitting, alignment and installation of machine components
• Work with bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors and drive systems
• Install and connect pneumatic and, where applicable, hydraulic components
• Read and work from mechanical drawings, assembly drawings and technical schematics
• Perform adjustments, alignment and mechanical modifications during assembly
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems during machine build and installation
• Support machine testing, dry runs and start-up activities
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance where required
• Assist with machine installation and commissioning at customer locations
• Identify defective components and carry out repairs or replacements
• Work independently while coordinating with engineers, electricians and other technicians

Must-Have Experience

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in machine assembly, mechanical fitting or machine building
• Proven experience physically assembling industrial machines or production equipment
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Experience working from mechanical and assembly drawings
• Practical experience with components such as:
• Bearings
• Shafts
• Couplings
• Gearboxes
• Motors
• Conveyors
• Mechanical drive systems
• Experience with machine alignment, adjustment and component replacement
• Able to use standard mechanical tools and measuring equipment
• Comfortable working independently on industrial equipment
• Good English communication skills

Education

A technical qualification in one of the following areas is preferred:

• Machine Fitting / Mechanical Assembly

A bachelor’s degree is an advantage, but strong practical machine-building experience is more important than job title alone.

• Site supervision
• Mechanical design
• Production supervision
• Documentation or inspection only

Candidates from these backgrounds may still qualify if they can demonstrate substantial recent hands-on machine assembly experience.

International Opportunity

The position is based abroad and is intended for candidates who are open to relocation.

The employer is looking for technically strong candidates who can initially work as part of an experienced team and develop further toward independent machine installation, commissioning and field service work.

Visa and work permit support will be arranged for suitable candidates.
