Job Title: Preschool Psychologist / Child Psychologist (Early Childhood)

Job Summary

The Preschool Psychologist provides psychological support, assessment, and guidance to young children (typically ages 3–6) in a preschool setting. This role focuses on supporting children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development, collaborating with teachers, parents, and school administrators to create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Child Assessment & Observation

  • Conduct developmental and behavioral assessments to identify learning, social, or emotional challenges.
  • Observe children in classroom settings to monitor progress and identify areas of concern.

Intervention & Support

  • Design and implement individualized support plans for children with developmental delays or behavioral challenges.
  • Provide counseling or therapeutic support for children experiencing social, emotional, or adjustment issues.

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Work closely with preschool teachers to provide strategies for classroom management and child development.
  • Advise parents on developmental milestones, learning strategies, and behavioral guidance.

Program Development

  • Assist in designing age-appropriate programs and activities that support cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of preschool programs and recommend improvements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of assessments, observations, and interventions.
  • Prepare reports for parents, teachers, and school management as needed.

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Stay updated on best practices in early childhood psychology.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in psychological practice.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Psychology (Master’s preferred, with specialization in Child or Educational Psychology)
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in educational or clinical settings.
  • Strong observational and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development theories and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding of child behavior.
