- Develop and test new food products, recipes, and formulations based on market trends and consumer needs.
- Modify and improve existing food products to enhance taste, texture, shelf-life, and nutritional value.
- Conduct laboratory and kitchen trials for sample development and evaluation.
- Perform sensory evaluations, stability testing, and shelf-life studies.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and procurement teams to scale up successful prototypes for mass production.
- Document all R&D processes, test results, and formulation data accurately.
- Research food ingredients, additives, and processing techniques to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Monitor food industry trends, competitor products, and regulatory changes.
- Provide technical support during product launches and production troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab/work area following food safety protocols.
- Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or related field (vocational or high school graduates with strong experience may also qualify for entry-level roles).
- 1–3 years of experience in food processing, quality control, or product development.
- Knowledge of food safety standards such as HACCP, GMP, and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with lab or kitchen equipment used in food R&D.
- Hands-on experience in meat, dairy, bakery, beverage, or snack product development (depending on company focus).
