Construction Worker / Construction Helper

Position: Construction Worker / Construction Helper

Department: Construction / Operations

Reports To: Site Supervisor / Foreman / Project Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Construction Worker / Construction Helper is responsible for assisting skilled workers, supervisors, and other site personnel in performing construction-related activities. The position involves preparing materials and tools, maintaining a clean and safe work area, assisting with construction tasks, and following instructions and safety procedures at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled workers, carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, and other construction personnel as needed.
  • Load, unload, carry, and properly arrange construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepare construction materials such as cement, sand, gravel, lumber, and other supplies as instructed.
  • Assist in mixing, pouring, carrying, and distributing construction materials.
  • Perform basic construction tasks under the direction of the site supervisor or skilled worker.
  • Assist in excavation, demolition, cleaning, and preparation of work areas when required.
  • Operate basic hand tools and equipment properly and safely, when authorized.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the construction site.
  • Collect and dispose of construction debris and waste in designated areas.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling temporary structures, barriers, and work areas.
  • Follow instructions from the Foreman, Site Supervisor, or Project Manager.
  • Follow all company policies, site rules, and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety shoes, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, damaged tools/equipment, or other hazards to the supervisor.
  • Take proper care of company tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Perform other construction-related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications

  • Preferably with previous construction or general labor experience, but entry-level applicants may be considered.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor and lifting materials.
  • Willing to work outdoors and in various weather conditions when required.
  • Able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Responsible, hardworking, punctual, and safety-conscious.
  • Willing to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays when required by the project, subject to company policy and applicable labor regulations.

  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials.
  • Ability to perform manual and physical tasks.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Awareness of workplace safety practices.
  • Willingness to learn new construction skills.

Working Conditions

The position requires working primarily at construction sites and may involve:

  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying materials for extended periods.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, heat, outdoor conditions, and other construction-site environments.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Working at heights or in confined areas when properly trained, authorized, and equipped.
  • Physical labor and repetitive tasks as required by the project.
