Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a QS Lead to oversee quantity surveying and cost management activities for our construction, retrofitting, and civil works projects. The role will lead the QS team in preparing quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, progress billings, variation orders, and cost reports while ensuring accuracy and effective project cost control. The QS Lead will also coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance, subcontractors, and clients on commercial and project cost matters.

Responsibilities

Lead the Quantity Surveying team and oversee QS activities across assigned projects.

Review and prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

Review project drawings, specifications, scope of work, contracts, and construction plans.

Monitor project costs against the approved budget, BOQ, and contract value.

Review and validate progress billings and accomplishment reports based on actual site progress.

Manage and evaluate variation orders, change orders, additional works, and claims.

Conduct site visits to verify actual quantities, completed works, and project accomplishments.

Review and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and provide cost comparisons and recommendations.

Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, Finance, and site teams.

Monitor actual material usage, quantities, and costs to identify discrepancies and potential cost overruns.

Prepare cost reports, forecasts, cash flow projections, and commercial reports for management review.

Review subcontractor measurements, billings, claims, and supporting documents.

Identify cost risks, commercial issues, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of BOQs, estimates, contracts, variations, billings, and cost records.

Participate in client, consultant, subcontractor, and project meetings concerning costs, quantities, billings, and variations.

Provide technical and commercial guidance to QS Engineers and other team members.

Train, guide, and review the work of junior QS staff.

Assist in contract negotiations and commercial discussions when required.

Lead the preparation and review of final accounts and project cost closeout.

Ensure all quantity and cost-related activities are aligned with approved plans, specifications, contracts, and company procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Licensed Civil Engineer is an advantage.

5–7 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, Estimation, or Construction Cost Management.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a QS/Cost Engineering team is preferred.

Experience in retrofitting, structural strengthening, civil works, or general construction is highly relevant.

Strong knowledge of quantity take-off, BOQ, cost estimation, project costing, progress billing, and cost control.

Experience handling variation orders, change orders, claims, and subcontractor billing.

Good understanding of construction materials, methods, drawings, and specifications.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.

Knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CostX, or other estimating/cost management software is an advantage.

Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent coordination and communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects or priorities.

Willing to conduct site visits and attend project/client meetings when required.
