The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily warehouse operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage, inventory control, and movement of materials and finished goods. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory integrity, optimizing warehouse space, enforcing standard operating procedures, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
The Warehouse Supervisor leads warehouse personnel, monitors inventory transactions, conducts inventory audits, and collaborates closely with the Purchasing, Production, Inventory Control, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure timely material availability and accurate inventory records. The role also drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency, minimize inventory discrepancies, and support overall operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
- Supervise receiving of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and returned items.
- Ensure proper inspection, documentation, and recording of all inbound inventory.
- Maintain an organized warehouse through proper storage, bin location management, and space utilization.
- Ensure proper inventory movement between warehouse locations.
- Monitor housekeeping and implement 5S standards.
Inventory Control
- Maintain inventory accuracy through timely recording of all stock movements.
- Supervise daily cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO implementation where applicable.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, damaged, expired, and obsolete inventory.
Warehouse Asset Management
- Safeguard company inventory against loss, theft, deterioration, and unauthorized withdrawal.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for different product categories.
- Monitor warehouse equipment and report maintenance requirements.
Warehouse Documentation
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of receiving reports, stock transfer documents, inventory adjustment forms, and return documents.
- Ensure all warehouse transactions are recorded promptly in the ERP or Warehouse Management System.
Team Leadership
- Supervise warehouse personnel and daily warehouse activities.
- Monitor employee productivity and adherence to warehouse SOPs.
- Conduct coaching and performance evaluations.
- Recommend process improvements and manpower requirements.
Cross-functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Production regarding the turnover and receipt of finished goods.
- Coordinate with Purchasing regarding inbound deliveries.
- Coordinate with Inventory Control and Finance regarding inventory reconciliation.
- Coordinate with Logistics for the turnover of staged inventory or shipment-ready goods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- At least 5–10 years of experience in warehouse operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Experience in the eCommerce, retail, trading, distribution, FMCG, or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, stock control, receiving, storage, and inventory reconciliation.
- Experience conducting cycle counts, physical inventory, inventory variance investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
- Proficient in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, or inventory management software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications for reporting and data analysis.
- Solid understanding of warehouse safety practices, inventory handling procedures, and 5S workplace organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify process improvements and drive operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in supervising, coaching, and developing warehouse personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet operational deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays when required by business operations.
