Safely operate water trucks to control dust, support earthworks, and maintain safe site conditions in railway construction projects.
Operate water trucks safely within railway construction sites and designated access routes.
Perform dust suppression, road wetting, and watering of work areas as instructed.
Support earthworks, compaction, and site preparation activities by maintaining appropriate moisture levels.
Follow approved Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and coordinate movements with a Banksman when required.
Conduct daily pre‑operation inspections of the water truck, including brakes, tires, tank, hoses, pumps, and spray systems.
Ensure water is applied evenly and safely without creating hazardous conditions such as slippery surfaces or pooling.
Maintain awareness of pedestrians, equipment, and live construction activities during operations.
Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions or hazards are identified.
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the water truck and work areas.
Report mechanical defects, unsafe conditions, or operational issues promptly.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and mandatory HSE training sessions.
Report incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions in accordance with site reporting procedures.
Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Comply with applicable railway safety rules, environmental requirements, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Requirements
Minimum Educational Attainment: Junior High School Level Completer (Grade 10) or holder of an Alternative Learning System (ALS) Certificate of Completion.
Driver's License: Code C
Proven experience as a water truck driver or similar role in construction or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with dust suppression techniques and site watering requirements.
Experience working within traffic‑controlled and active construction environments.
Knowledge of daily vehicle inspection and basic maintenance checks.
Understanding of workplace safety and environmental compliance standards.
Capable of working in outdoor and high‑risk environments.
Ability to remain alert, disciplined, and safety‑focused at all times.
