• Product Development & Improvement: Assist in the formulation of new recipes and conduct trials for both new products and the enhancement of existing items. This often includes "bench-top" development and supporting scale-up to pilot or full-scale production runs.
• Testing and Evaluation: Conduct various tests, including sensory evaluations (taste, texture, appearance), shelf-life studies, and analytical tests to evaluate product quality and stability.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain meticulous records of all R&D activities, formulations, and test results. Prepare technical documentation, product specifications, and support the preparation of documents for regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP).
• Research and Analysis: Conduct research on ingredients, processing techniques, market trends, and competitor products to support innovation initiatives.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Marketing, and Procurement/Purchasing, to ensure project alignment and smooth transitions from concept to commercialization.
• Lab Maintenance: Ensure the R&D laboratory or kitchen area is clean, organized, and adheres to safety and sanitation protocols. 

Typical Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
• Experience: Previous experience in a food manufacturing, production, or R&D lab environment is often preferred, though entry-level candidates with relevant academic backgrounds may be considered.
