Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of animal health issues, including injuries, illnesses, and diseases.
Perform medical examinations, vaccinations, diagnostic tests (such as x-rays and bloodwork), and preventive care for animals.
Conduct surgical procedures including routine surgeries (e.g., spaying/neutering) and more advanced procedures (e.g., orthopedic or emergency surgeries).
Prescribe medications, recommend diets, and provide advice on general animal care and behavior.
Provide emergency care for injured or critically ill animals.
Maintain detailed medical records for all patients, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Educate pet owners and animal caretakers on responsible pet ownership and proper care techniques.
Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic/hospital.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the latest veterinary medicine advancements, treatment techniques, and technologies.
Ensure the clinic/hospital environment remains clean, organized, and safe for both animals and staff.
Requirements
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state/region of employment.
Strong diagnostic and surgical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with pet owners and staff.
Compassion for animals and commitment to their health and welfare.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
