We are looking for a Cost Accounting Manager
The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the company’s inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation, stock tracking, reporting, and reconciliation across all stores. This role ensures strong internal controls, supports audit readiness, and provides actionable insights on inventory consumption, wastage, and stock discrepancies. The position leads the Cost Accounting team, maintains policies and procedures, and collaborates with Operations, Procurement, and Finance to optimize inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
A. Policies & Procedures
• Develop, maintain, and enforce inventory accounting policies and SOPs, ensuring alignment with
company standards and audit requirements.
• Ensure proper internal controls over stock movements, inventory valuation, and reconciliation
processes.
• Lead process improvement initiatives for stock recording, reporting, and inventory accuracy.
B. People Management
• Lead and mentor the Cost Accounting / Inventory team.
• Assign tasks, manage rotation schedules, and monitor performance.
• Conduct training on inventory control procedures, SAP B1 or ERP usage, and internal controls.
• Promote accountability, accuracy, and operational excellence within the team.
C. Core Functions
• Inventory Accounting & Valuation
o Ensure accurate recording of inventory purchases, transfers, and consumption.
o Oversee monthly inventory count, valuation, stock adjustments, and reconciliations.
o Maintain standard cost updates in the system and monitor variances between standard and
actual costs.
o Identify, investigate, and resolve stock discrepancies, theft, breakages, or wastage.
• Stock Reporting & Analysis
o Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for management.
o Monitor inventory turnover, stock aging, and slow-moving items.
o Provide actionable insights to Operations and Procurement to reduce wastage and optimize
inventory levels.
o Support management in decision-making regarding ordering, pricing, and menu planning.
• Store & Supplier Coordination
o Coordinate with store teams to ensure accurate stock receipts, usage, and reporting.
o Collaborate with Procurement for verification of received items and proper documentation.
o Support investigations of variances, breakages, or inventory-related issues.
• Audit & Compliance Support
o Ensure inventory records are audit-ready and compliant with accounting standards.
o Facilitate internal and external audits by providing required inventory documentation and
reconciliations.
o Implement corrective actions from audit findings related to inventory control.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Attainment:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred but not required.
Related Work Experience:
• 5–7 years in cost or inventory accounting, preferably in restaurants, food service, or retail.
• Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience in SAP B1 or ERP inventory modules is an advantage.
