Job Summary

The Buyout Officer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, authenticating, and purchasing pre-owned items (such as luxury handbags, watches, and fine jewelry) directly from individual sellers, VIP clients, or trade partners. This role ensures the company acquires high-demand inventory at competitive buyout or consignment rates to maximize resale profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Item Valuation & Evaluation:
• Inspect incoming pre-owned items for physical condition, wear, and market demand.
• Research market rates to establish fair payout or trade-in offers.
• Authentication:
• Verify product authenticity by examining hardware, stitching, materials, serial codes, date stamps, and accompanying accessories/provenance.
• Price Negotiation:
• Negotiate buyout prices and consignment terms with individual sellers and partners while securing targeted profit margins.
• Market Research & Trend Analysis:
• Monitor secondary market trends, brand resale values, and competitor pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Inventory Acquisition & Onboarding:
• Manage purchase documentation, execute contracts, initiate payout requests, and hand over acquired items to cataloging and photography teams.
• Client Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain positive relationships with sellers and VIP clients to encourage repeat trade-ins and referrals.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in luxury retail, consignment buying, inventory purchasing, or pawnshop/appraisal operations.
• Product Knowledge: Strong familiarity with pre-owned luxury brands, grading standards, and market valuation.
• Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills; strong attention to detail.
• Tools: Proficiency in inventory management software, spreadsheet tools (MS Excel/Google Sheets), and appraisal databases.
