Job Description
This is a great opportunity to join an award-winning IP law firm and represent some of the largest companies in the country in matters of IP enforcement.
Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:
- You will work closely with the enforcement litigation team and play a key part in managing IP enforcement actions. Core responsibilities include drafting cease-and-desist letters, reviewing and supervising the work of junior lawyers, attending hearings, preparing witnesses for testimony, and overseeing investigation reports prepared by paralegals and field investigators.
- You will supervise paralegals and investigators while collaborating with junior lawyers on various matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle IP litigation cases from start to finish, including drafting/filing pleadings, conducting trial, and handling appeals.
- Represent clients before courts, arbitration panels, and government agencies such as the IPOPHL.
- Draft legal documents including complaints, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
- Provide legal advice on IP enforcement strategies, infringement risks, and dispute resolution.
- Prepare comprehensive legal opinions and reports tailored to client objectives.
- Oversee market surveillance and investigations in coordination with enforcement agents and local authorities.
- Initiate and supervise raids, seizures, and administrative actions when necessary.
- Maintain excellent client relationships through proactive communication and timely delivery of services.
- Work with junior lawyers and legal support staff; provide mentorship and guidance.
- Stay updated on local and international IP laws, trends, and case developments.
Requirements
- Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Intellectual Property litigation.
- Strong knowledge of IP laws, litigation procedures, and legal research tools.
- IP litigation experience is a must. Can be flexible on IP experience, even if it’s basic, as long as litigation expertise is solid.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
- Solid understanding of IPOPHL, BLA, and judicial procedures in IP disputes.
- Proven track record in litigating IP cases and handling enforcement actions.
- Experience liaising with government agencies, especially the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and customs authorities, is a plus.
