What the Job Actually Is

At its heart, a warehouse Staff keeps the whole operations wheel turning. Without you, products don't get where they need to go, stock gets lost, and customers don't get their orders. It’s physical, active work where you’re moving all day, making sure every item coming in or going out is accounted for, undamaged, and right where it belongs.

Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Job Functions

  • Catching incoming shipments: Unloading delivery trucks, opening up boxes, and checking that what arrived actually matches the order sheet—and isn't broken.
  • Putting things where they belong: Organizing stock on shelves and racks so anyone on the team can find what they need in seconds.
  • Pulling and packing orders: Grabbing the right items off the shelves for outgoing orders, packing them up securely so nothing gets damaged in transit, and slapping on the right shipping labels.
  • Loading up outgoing trucks: Stacking boxes and pallets onto delivery trucks safely so weight is distributed evenly and stuff doesn't tip over on the road.
  • Keeping track of inventory: Doing quick count checks so the system always matches what's actually sitting on the shelf.
  • Driving warehouse gear: Operating tools like manual or electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts to move heavy stuff without straining your back.
  • Keeping the floor clean and safe: Sweeping up, breaking down extra cardboard boxes, keeping aisles clear of trip hazards, and making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the shift.
