Animal Handling
Description
- Conduct routine check-ups on farm animals to monitor their health and diagnose illnesses.
- Administer vaccines to prevent common diseases in livestock.
- Perform surgeries and other medical procedures as necessary.
- Advise farm staff on animal nutrition, general care, and breeding strategies.
- Ensure compliance with animal health regulations and maintain records of treatments.
- Collaborate in managing biosecurity measures within the agricultural environment.
- Respond to emergencies and provide care for injured or sick animals on the farm.
Requirement
- Educational Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited program; current veterinary license.
- Experience Level: 1-3 years of clinical experience in a veterinary practice.
- Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in diagnostic equipment, surgical procedures, and ensuring animal welfare; strong communication skills for interacting with pet owners and staff.
- Responsibilities and Duties: Perform examinations, diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, perform surgeries, and provide guidance on pet care to owners.
- Working Conditions: Environment may include exposure to loud noises, odors, and potentially hazardous situations; must be able to work on-call for emergencies.
- Qualities and Traits: Compassion for animals, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good manual dexterity, and strong interpersonal skills.
