Trainer

Job Purpose

The Apprentice Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs for apprentice technicians and service personnel involved in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in mining operations. The role focuses on building technical competence through classroom instruction, practical hands-on training, coaching, mentoring, and competency assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical training programs for apprentice technicians.
• Conduct classroom, workshop, and field-based practical training sessions.
• Develop and update training materials, learning guides, and assessments.
• Coach and mentor apprentices on maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
• Monitor apprentice progress and facilitate competency evaluations.
• Support workforce capability development initiatives aligned with business needs.
• Promote and enforce EHS standards and safe work behaviors.
• Maintain training records, certifications, and competency matrices.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in mining, construction, or related industries.
• Experience in technical training, coaching, mentoring, or apprenticeship programs is highly preferred.
• Experience with underground and/or surface mining equipment is an advantage.
• Background in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling is an advantage.
