Description
- Driving: Safely operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over long distances and across multiple states
- Loading and unloading: Loading and unloading cargo, and securing it
- Route planning: Planning routes using maps or satellite tracking
- Vehicle maintenance: Performing basic vehicle maintenance, and reporting serious mechanical problems
- Paperwork: Completing and verifying paperwork, and keeping a log of activities
- Safety: Following all traffic laws, and taking special precautions while driving
- Communication: Reporting incidents to a dispatcher, and following accident procedures
Requirement
- Educational Qualifications: No specific degree required; equivalent experience is acceptable.
- Experience Level: Less than 1 year of driving experience preferred.
- Skills and Competencies: Proficient in vehicle maintenance, safe driving, and trailer handling.
- Responsibilities and Duties: Transportation of goods, routine vehicle checks, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Working Conditions: Varied environments, including highways and urban areas, long hours possible.
- Qualities and Traits: Reliable, punctual, and possesses strong communication skills.
