Work Arrangement: 1 Month Onsite → Hybrid


We are looking for an experienced AU Tax Accountant to manage Australian tax and accounting engagements for SME and mid-market clients. The role involves preparing financial statements, tax returns, workpapers, and compliance documentation while ensuring accuracy and adherence to Australian accounting standards and tax legislation.

You will work closely with Australian stakeholders and clients, supporting a portfolio of businesses with annual turnovers of approximately AUD 5M–AUD 10M.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Australian income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting workpapers in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Manage a portfolio of SME and mid-market Australian clients.
  • Respond to client queries and provide timely tax and accounting support.
  • Analyze financial data, perform reconciliations, and identify discrepancies.
  • Assist with tax planning, compliance reviews, and advisory engagements.
  • Support senior accountants and managers in delivering quality client service.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and meet engagement deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Stay updated on changes to Australian tax legislation and accounting standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of Australian Public Practice experience.
  • Hands-on experience preparing:
  • Australian financial statements
  • Income tax returns
  • Tax workpapers
  • Strong practical knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting principles.
  • Experience managing SME and mid-market Australian clients.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling clients with AUD 5M–AUD 10M annual turnover.
  • Experience with Australian accounting and tax software.
  • Exposure to tax planning, advisory, or compliance review engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
