Description

The Senior General Accountant is responsible for managing financial operations and ensuring accurate accounting processes, financial reporting, and compliance with local regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial management, and experience in handling complex financial data. The Senior General Accountant will support the Finance Manager in strategic financial planning and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.



Financial Reporting and Reconciliation:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger entries and perform regular reconciliations for accounts such as bank, inventory, and receivables.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.


General Accounting and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Ensure timely submission of tax filings (VAT, income tax, payroll tax) and comply with local and international regulations.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal.


Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Supervise and review accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Monitor customer aging reports and ensure timely collection of payments.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies as necessary.


Budgeting and Financial Analysis:

  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Analyze financial data, variance reports, and trends to support business decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial processes and cost control measures.


Audit and Internal Controls:

  • Coordinate with external auditors during audit processes and ensure timely delivery of required financial documents.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.


Team Leadership and Support:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff and support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, procurement, operations) to support financial initiatives.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in special projects, including financial analysis and system improvements.


Requirement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in general accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
  • Background in EOR (Employer of Record) or similar industry required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) are essential.
  • Experience with ERP systems is an advantage.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with team members and senior management.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end, audit).
  • Hybrid or in-office work setup, depending on company policies.
