Description

Position Summary

The Sr. Accountant responsible for managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports for properties.



• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close reporting activities

• Assist in the annual financial audit and tax preparation

• Prepare the reconciliation of the key asset and liability accounts i.e. bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, prepaid roll forward schedule, fixed asset roll forward. schedule, etc.

• Prepare the schedules of the more complex accounting areas such as, but not limited to deferred

revenue, payroll income tax, leases, debt schedules, commission and options

• Prepare revenue reconciliation, and identify, research, and resolve billing related issues to ensure

completeness and accuracy of revenue recognition

• Review of credit memos to ensure accuracy, completeness and proper authorization

• Identify key areas of accounting adjustments

• Create adjusting journal entries

• Support in the tax compliance i.e, 1099 fling, sales and use tax filing, income tax filing

• Perform technical accounting and tax research

• Perform fluctuation analysis

• Review the work of the staff accountant and or consultants

• Mentor, train, and motivate the staff accountant

• Support with the implementation of NetSuite (or similar) ERP and other tools

• Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining controls

• Perform other accounting, audit, or tax related tasks to support the business as these arise

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, financial management, accounting technology or related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of work experience handling high-volume accounting transaction (general ledger, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable and accounts payable) in a hotel, tourism, and hospitality industry for a global brand
  • Previous work experience in ERP systems, Netsuite is highly desirable
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively and proactively with internal and external customers, all management levels, team members and co-workers
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel (i.e. VLOOKUP, Pivot table, Charts, and Graphs, etc.)
  • Willing to work in night shift and amenable to work on holidays, weekend, and shifting
