Safety Officer

A Safety Officer establishes and enforces a secure work environment by ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations. They conduct routine risk assessments, deliver safety training, investigate workplace incidents, and implement preventative measures to protect employees from hazards.

Core Responsibilities

• Compliance & Policy: Develop, implement, and update Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies to align with local labor laws and international standards.
• Inspections & Audits: Perform regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe equipment, or violations of safety procedures.
• Risk Assessment: Evaluate operations to proactively mitigate risks before accidents or injuries occur.
• Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations of workplace accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Training & Education: Organize and conduct safety orientations, drills, and training programs to build a strong safety culture among staff.

Key Skills & Requirements

• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of OHS laws (such as RA 11058 in the Philippines) and OSHA guidelines.
• Communication: Ability to clearly explain safety protocols and effectively enforce preventative measures with all levels of staff.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous observation skills for identifying hazards and maintaining accurate incident reports and compliance logs.

Qualifications:

• Must be a College level.
• 3+ years of experience in a safety-related role in a commercial, industrial projects, constructions and installation projects.
• Proficiency in safety auditing, inspection and identifying hazards.
• Well-versed in creating emergency response plans tailored to various scenarios
• Relevant certifications such as BOSH, COSH, NCII, First Aid and other related safety certifications.
• Expertise in using and maintaining safety equipment like fire extinguishers, eye protection and hazardous material protection.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
• Attention to detail and the ability to enforce safety procedures and protocols.
• Willing to be assigned on-site and outside Metro Manila.
• Willing to start ASAP.
