JOB SUMMARY:

Handles all substation duties such as operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring that all operations of the substation go smoothly. Reports incidents that deem the substation faulty. Substation Engineer main goal is to record and document all operations performed along with maintenance and coordinates with other substation personnel who will take over after their shift.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Controls equipment, such as current converters, voltage transformers, and circuit breakers, that regulate flow of electricity through substation of electric power system and over distribution lines to consumers.

2. Records readings of switchboard instruments to compile data concerning quantities of electric power used for substation operation and amounts distributed from station.

3. Perform switching operation.

4. Monitor all electrical equipment and protection.

5. Communicates with Load Dispatcher to report amount of electricity received into substation, and to receive switching instructions.

6. Observes switchboard instruments to detect indications of line disturbances, such as grounded, shorted, or open circuits.

7. Pulls circuit breaker switch or pushes buttons to interrupt flow of current in disturbed line preparatory to repair, and to connect alternate circuit to carry load of de-energized lines.

8. Records temperature of transformers at specified intervals.

9. Inspect equipment, such as transformers, pumps, fans, batteries, and circuit breakers to detect defects.

10. Operate auxiliary generators and be designated Substation Operator, Generation.

11. Control several remote-controlled substations from central station switchboard and be designated Substation Operator, Automatic.

12. Other tasks that the Substation O&M Supervisor may assign.


QUALIFICATION SUMMARY:

1. Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.

2. With a minimum of 2 years’ experience in monitoring and operation of Sub-Station Operation and Maintenance.

3. Preferably Registered Electrical Engineer.

4. Knowledgeable in operating and monitoring of substation equipment, monitoring, and protective devices.

5. Knowledgeable in Fault/Alarm Interpretation is an advantage.

6. With good Communication Skills.

7. Can drive Manual and Automatic Vehicle Type with a valid Driver’s License.

8. Willing to be assigned in to any point in the Philippines.
