Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Assessment & Feasibility

  • Conduct preliminary site assessments, including solar resource evaluation, topography, accessibility, and constructability.
  • Support preparation of technical feasibility studies, energy yield calculations, and conceptual system designs.
  • Review and validate data from site surveys (geotechnical, hydrological, environmental).
  • Coordinate with external consultants for specialized technical studies when required.

2. Engineering Design Support

  • Prepare initial layout designs for solar PV arrays, equipment placement, and site infrastructure.
  • Review and consolidate engineering requirements from EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
  • Assist in evaluating technical options, equipment specifications, and system configurations.

3. Permitting & Regulatory Coordination

  • Support the development team in preparing engineering-related permit documents required by:
  • Local Government Units (LGU)
  • DOE (Department of Energy)
  • DENR (Environmental Compliance)
  • NGCP / Distribution Utilities (Grid interconnection)
  • Provide technical drawings, studies, and reports needed for permit submissions.
  • Assist in responding to technical queries from regulators and permitting authorities.

4. Project Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare engineering documents, technical reports, and project development files.
  • Maintain updated project trackers for technical deliverables, permits, and design progress.
  • Provide technical input for project budgeting, bill of materials, and capex estimates.
  • Support the preparation of tender packages and scope definitions for EPC procurement.

5. Stakeholder & Site Coordination

  • Conduct field visits to project sites to validate conditions, measurements, and potential constraints.
  • Coordinate with landowners, surveyors, contractors, and engineering partners during development.
  • Participate in public consultations, technical meetings, and stakeholder presentations as needed.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with project development officers, permitting teams, construction managers, and external consultants.
  • Support due diligence activities for partnerships, acquisitions, or financing.
  • Assist in the handover of developed projects to the construction/implementation team.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering (or related field).

Experience

  • 1–3 years’ experience in solar PV, renewable energy, infrastructure development, or related engineering fields preferred.
  • Experience in design, technical assessment, permitting, or site engineering is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of solar PV systems, power plant design principles, and energy modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with solar engineering software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
  • Understanding of grid interconnection processes and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based work and field visits.
  • Collaboration with engineering, procurement, environmental, and development teams.
  • May require travel to remote project locations.
