Job Location: Camarines Sur


The Project Assistant (Engineering) will provide technical support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of emergency shelter and CCCM interventions, ensuring alignment with sectoral standards and community needs.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

-Conduct technical assessments of damaged infrastructure and housing to determine appropriate shelter responses.

-Develop designs, technical drawings, and bills of quantities (BoQs) for shelter solutions, including transitional and durable options, ensuring they align with Sphere Standards and local building codes.

-Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for shelter construction, rehabilitation, and NFI distribution.

-Support the implementation of cash-based interventions for shelter, including the provision of technical guidance for beneficiary self-reconstruction efforts.

-Coordinate closely with local authorities, partners, and communities to ensure interventions are culturally appropriate, inclusive, and participatory.

-Monitor progress of shelter construction and NFI distribution activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

-Support the rapid deployment of emergency shelter kits and NFIs to affected populations in the immediate aftermath of the typhoon.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience in emergency shelter programming, construction, or infrastructure development in humanitarian contexts.

Experience with NFI distribution and related logistics in disaster response settings.

Proficiency in using engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) and project management software.

Previous experience working in the Philippines or a similar disaster-prone context is desirable.
