OBS / vMix Operator (Livestream Production Specialist)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable OBS / vMix Operator to manage and execute high-quality live stream broadcasts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience with OBS Studio, vMix, or both, and a strong background in live switching, audio/video monitoring, scene creation, and troubleshooting during live broadcasts. You will work closely with hosts and the production team to ensure seamless technical execution across platforms like TikTok Live, Facebook Live, and YouTube.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Stream Setup & Testing

• Configure, test, and prepare OBS Studio and/or vMix software prior to going live to ensure smooth operations.
• Build and manage scenes, graphics, lower thirds, transitions, and overlays based on broadcast guidelines.
• Test all audio inputs/outputs, camera feeds, and capture cards to guarantee clear audio and video quality.
• Coordinate pre-show checks with hosts, speakers, and the production team.

2. Live Stream Operations & Switching

• Execute smooth live switching of camera feeds, media clips, lower thirds, and interactive elements during broadcasts.
• Manage multi-platform streaming, particularly on platforms like TikTok Live, Facebook Live, YouTube, or custom RTMP destinations.
• Continuously monitor live audio and video feeds to maintain proper volume levels, lip-sync/delay, and resolution/bitrate stability.
• Coordinate seamlessly with the live host and production team in real-time to execute timing cues and program changes.

3. Troubleshooting & Technical Resolution

• Quickly diagnose and resolve real-time technical issues (e.g., dropped frames, audio sync issues, hardware disconnects, network latency).
• Maintain high composure and focus under pressure when unexpected disruptions occur during live broadcasts.
• Implement backup plans or fallback scenes gracefully without interrupting the audience experience.

Qualifications & Requirements

Work Experience & Technical Skills

• Proven Experience: Practical experience in live stream production, broadcast engineering, or video switching operations.
• Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in OBS Studio, vMix, or both.
• Setup Knowledge: Hands-on experience setting up cameras, audio interfaces, microphones, capture cards, lighting, and encoders.
• Platform Familiarity: Direct experience managing broadcasts on TikTok Live, Facebook Live, or similar social streaming platforms.
• Core Concepts: Solid understanding of scenes, overlays, RTMP keys, audio routing, video bitrates, framerates, and aspect ratios.

Soft Skills & Work Style

• Pressure Management: Ability to stay calm, focused, and resourceful under tight deadlines and during live operational errors.
• Communication: Excellent real-time communication and coordination skills to interact with hosts, producers, and crew.
