Pest Control Technician

Core responsibilities

• Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, or industrial properties to identify pest types and the extent of an infestation. 
• Treatment planning: Determine the most appropriate and effective treatment plan, which may include applying pesticides, using traps, or other methods. 
• Application: Safely and effectively apply pesticides, baits, and other treatment materials according to safety regulations and product instructions. 
• Pest removal: Physically remove trapped pests, nests, and other evidence of infestation. 
• Prevention: Seal entry points with materials like foam or mesh, and advise clients on sanitation and structural repairs to prevent future infestations. 

Administrative and client-facing duties

• Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, treatments, and chemicals used. 
• Client communication: Advise clients on treatment plans, safety procedures, and preventive measures. 
• Quotes and estimates: Provide cost estimates for services and recommend ongoing service agreements. 
• Scheduling: Coordinate service appointments with clients. 

Other important tasks

• Equipment maintenance: Ensure pest control equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working order. 
• Vehicle management: Keep the work vehicle stocked with necessary tools, equipment, and supplies. 
• Compliance: Stay up-to-date with and adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pesticide use and safety.
