Description

The Merchandising Assistant will support the merchandising team in ensuring that SMEG products are properly displayed, promoted, and stocked across various retail channels. This role involves managing visual merchandising activities, stock monitoring, product placement, and coordinating promotional materials. The assistant will work closely with the merchandising, sales, and marketing teams to help enhance the in-store brand presence and drive product sales.


  • Monitor competitor merchandising strategies, product placements, and promotions to ensure SMEG’s positioning remains competitive and attractive.
  • Report on market trends, customer preferences, and retail performance, providing feedback to the merchandising and marketing teams to enhance future strategies.
  • Assist in tracking sales performance and reporting on sales figures from various retail locations.
  • Help prepare monthly merchandising reports, including updates on stock levels, sales, product placement, and visual merchandising initiatives.
  • Provide insights on product performance and suggest areas for improvement or action to optimize retail sales.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure all promotional campaigns align with SMEG's branding and retail strategies.
  • Provide administrative support to the merchandising team, including maintaining records of merchandising activities, preparing reports, and handling correspondence.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and other materials needed for meetings or training sessions.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in merchandising, retail operations, or sales, preferably in consumer goods or home appliances. Fresh graduates with a strong interest in retail and merchandising are also encouraged to apply.
  • Skills:
  1. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  2. Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with retail staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic data analysis.
  4. Knowledge of visual merchandising principles and retail best practices is an advantage.
  5. Attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
