Senior MEP Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Estimator. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical and electrical projects, reviewing tender documentation, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations and supporting the successful delivery of tender submissions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple tenders within tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

· Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and employer requirements.

· Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical building services projects.

· Conduct quantity take-offs and material take-offs from drawings and specifications.

· Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

· Analyse project risks, opportunities, and commercial considerations.

· Prepare pricing schedules, cost plans, and tender documentation.

· Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.

· Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams during the tender process.

· Attend tender review and handover meetings.

· Maintain and update estimating databases, labour norms and material pricing information.

· Assist in budget costing, feasibility studies and pre-construction activities.

· Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards and client requirements.

· Keep abreast of market conditions, material prices, and industry trends.

Essential Requirements

· Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Estimator or Building Services Estimator.

· Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, public health, piping, and fire protection systems.

· Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data, security, and building management systems.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.

· Proven experience preparing estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, residential, data centre, or infrastructure projects.

· Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

· Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

· Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.

· Experience working within MEP contracting or building services environments.

· Knowledge of European construction projects is preferred but not essential.

· Familiarity with BIM and digital construction processes.

· Understanding of various procurement and contract forms.
