Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Inpatient Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The Inpatient Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes for inpatient medical records to ensure compliance, proper reimbursement, and adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
• Ensure coding accuracy in compliance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, and official coding guidelines
• Abstract relevant clinical information from medical records
• Work closely with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams and providers to clarify documentation when needed
• Maintain productivity and quality standards set by the organization
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
• Participate in audits and respond to coding queries or denials
• Stay updated on coding guideline changes and payer requirements

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), CCS, or equivalent certification required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years inpatient coding experience or related
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG systems
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
