Helper Mechanic

The Helper Mechanic assists construction equipment mechanics in inspecting, servicing, and repairing heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, generators, and other construction-related equipment. This role supports daily maintenance operations, helps maintain equipment reliability, and ensures a safe and efficient jobsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and repairing construction equipment and machinery.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance such as oil and fluid changes, greasing, filter replacements, and battery checks.
• Help inspect heavy equipment for wear, damage, and operational issues.
• Prepare tools, parts, and equipment needed for repairs or service tasks.
• Clean and organize the workshop, tools, and service vehicles.
• Assist with removing and installing mechanical components (belts, hoses, fittings, attachments, etc.).
• Transport tools and parts to job sites when needed.
• Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities and report issues to senior mechanics.
• Follow all company safety procedures and regulations, especially around heavy machinery and jobsite hazards.
• Support equipment mobilization and demobilization from construction sites.

Skills & Qualifications

• Basic understanding of construction equipment and mechanical systems.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow detailed instructions.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Physically able to lift heavy parts and work in outdoor environments.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Prior experience in equipment maintenance or construction environment is a plus.
