Responsibilities

• Repairing equipment: Fix or replace faulty electrical switches, outlets, and circuit breakers
• Maintaining systems: Perform routine maintenance on heating, plumbing, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
• Inspecting systems: Check buildings, systems, and equipment for potential issues
• Performing repairs: Fix locks, replace windows, and make minor building repairs
• Performing preventative maintenance: Conduct routine and preventative maintenance to prolong the life of equipment and systems
• Ordering supplies: Get parts and supplies from distributors or storerooms
• Maintaining records: Keep a record of maintenance and repair tasks
• Following safety rules: Follow safety rules and ensure work is done in compliance with health and safety standards

Education

High school diploma or equivalent: A minimum requirement for many repairman jobs
