Key Responsibilities

Materials Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to align with production schedules and customer demand.
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies to meet manufacturing requirements.
• Monitor MRP outputs and implement corrective actions to address shortages or excess inventory.
• Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure material readiness aligns with production timelines.
• Manage material allocation during supply disruptions, constraints, or demand fluctuations

Inventory Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels to support operations while minimizing carrying costs.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and work with Warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Lead initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
• Establish and maintain inventory control policies, including safety stock and reorder point settings.
• Analyze inventory trends and recommend adjustments based on demand variability and operational

Supplier & Procurement Coordination

• Partner with Procurement to ensure supplier performance supports material requirements.
• Monitor supplier lead times and adjust planning parameters as needed.
• Support expediting efforts for critical shortages and urgent requirements.
• Provide accurate forecasts and demand signals to Procurement and key suppliers.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the Materials Planning team, including planners and inventory analysts.
• Set clear performance objectives and provide ongoing feedback and mentoring.
• Prioritize and assign workloads to ensure timely execution of planning activities.
• Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across departments.

Process Improvement

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve planning processes and system efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and planning accuracy.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for materials planning.
• Support ERP/MRP system enhancements, upgrades, and implementations

Reporting & Metrics

• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including:

-Material availability, Inventory turns, On-time materials readiness, Shortage frequency, Excess and obsolete inventory levels

• Analyze performance trends and implement corrective actions.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain documentation and audit readiness related to materials planning processes.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• 7–10 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or inventory management
• Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Strong experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)

• Strong knowledge of MRP and inventory planning principles
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership and team development capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
• Understanding of supply chain best practices and lean manufacturing concepts
