The Legal Officer provides comprehensive legal support to the organization, with a focus on corporate, contract, construction, and litigation matters.

This role is responsible for safeguarding the company’s legal interests by ensuring compliance with applicable laws, managing legal risks, supporting construction-related projects, and handling pleadings and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract Management

a. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including construction agreements, subcontracts, and service contracts

b. Ensure contracts are legally sound and aligned with company policies and risk standards

c. Identify potential legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies

d. Maintain and organize contract records and documentation.

e. Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, obligations, and enforcement.

2. Construction Legal Support

a. Provide legal advice on construction projects, including compliance, permits, and regulatory requirements

b. Review project documents to ensure adherence to applicable laws and contractual obligations

c. Assist project teams in handling claims, variations, and dispute-related issues

d. Monitor legal risks associated with ongoing construction activities

e. Liaise with project managers and engineers on legal matters affecting project execution.

3. Litigation and Pleadings

a. Prepare, review, and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents

Assist in case strategy development

b. Coordinate with external counsel and support court proceedings

c. Track case progress and maintain accurate legal records

d. Represent the company in hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings, as required.

4. Legal Compliance and Risk Management

a. Ensure company compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standard

b. Conduct legal research and provide guidance on regulatory updates

c. Develop and implement internal policies to minimize legal exposure

d. Advise management on potential legal risks and solutions

e. Support internal audits and compliance reviews

5. Dispute Resolution

a. Assist in handling disputes through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration

b. Support settlement discussions and resolution strategies

c. Prepare documentation and evidence for dispute proceedings

d. Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve conflicts efficiently

e. Provide risk assessments and recommendations to prevent recurring disputes

6. Legal Advisory and Support

a. Provide day-to-day legal advice to internal departments

b. Support business units in decision-making from a legal perspective

c. Conduct legal training or briefings for staff when necessary

d. Review and assist in drafting internal policies, memoranda, and notices

e. Perform other legal duties as assigned by the Head of Legal
