About Us

Polar Cold is a fast-growing Cold Storage as a Service (CSaaS) company deploying modular cold storage units — Polar Boxes — across Metro Manila. Founded as a startup and now serving real customers across multiple sites, we're expanding steadily and building a long-term business — with plenty of room for the right people to grow with us. We help businesses store perishable goods without the upfront cost of building their own cold room, and we're looking for a hands-on technician to keep our units running at peak performance.

About the Role

We're hiring a mid-level (or above) Refrigeration & Facilities Technician to maintain and troubleshoot our fleet of Polar Box cold storage units. Note: Polar Boxes are commercial cold storage/freezer units, not standard residential or office air-conditioning systems — they run a wider temperature range (down to -18°C, with newer deep-freeze units going to -23°C to -25°C) and operate with tighter tolerances than typical comfort cooling. Experience with commercial refrigeration, walk-in coolers/freezers, or cold rooms is strongly preferred over residential AC-only backgrounds.

You'll be based out of our fixed base but will travel regularly to customer sites and our own hub locations around Metro Manila (Mandaluyong/Pasig, BGC/Taguig, and others as we expand) for maintenance, repairs, and installations.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on commercial refrigeration units (compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves)
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues, including troubleshooting superheat, refrigerant charge, and expansion valve (EEV) tuning
• Manage defrost cycles and evaporator icing issues specific to freezer-range operation
• Respond to service calls at customer and company sites across Metro Manila
• Monitor and fine-tune unit performance using both manual inspection and remote telemetry data
• Support installation and commissioning of new Polar Box deployments
• Work with electrical wiring and components (controllers, sensors, IoT monitoring hardware)
• Keep clear records of maintenance visits, repairs, and parts used
• Coordinate with the operations team to flag recurring issues or units needing attention

What We're Looking For

• Proven hands-on experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration — walk-in coolers/freezers, cold rooms, or commercial chillers strongly preferred over residential/office AC-only experience
• Understanding of refrigeration cycles, refrigerant handling, and defrost management at freezer temperatures (not just comfort-cooling range)
• Comfortable working independently and traveling between multiple sites
• Solid understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Own motorcycle or car with a valid driver's license (required — you'll be traveling to sites regularly)
• Filipino for day-to-day customer communication, plus good English for internal team coordination and reporting
• Reliable, responsible, and comfortable with physical, on-the-ground work
• Problem-solver who can think on their feet when something breaks in the field

Nice to Have

• TESDA RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) certification or equivalent
• Experience with IoT-connected or "smart" refrigeration/monitoring systems (sensors, remote telemetry, controllers)
• Experience tuning electronic expansion valves (EEV) or working with superheat diagnostics
• Experience working directly with customers/clients

• Salary: ₱25,000 – ₱35,000/month (depending on experience)
