About LFBA Group of Companies

LFBA Group of Companies operates LF Gadget Store, a growing Filipino-owned retail business specializing in mobile devices, consumer gadgets, and electronic accessories. We are proud to be the Authorized Distributor of Fortheo products in the Philippines, with branches currently in Caloocan and Manila, an active e-commerce presence at lfgadgets.com, and approximately 100 employees across the group.

We are now building our HR function from the ground up — and we are looking for our first HR Manager to lead the journey.

Role Purpose

The HR Manager will establish and lead the Human Resources function of LFBA Group of Companies. Reporting directly to the President, this role is the strategic and operational owner of all people-related matters across our retail, distribution, and back-office operations — from policy creation and labor compliance to recruitment, payroll oversight, employee relations, and culture building.

This is a build-from-scratch leadership opportunity. The successful candidate will execute a six-month HR setup plan, transitioning the company from informal people practices to a fully compliant, professional, and employee-centered HR organization, while developing scalable systems to support future expansion.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end build of the HR function across LFBA Group of Companies, executing the approved six-month HR setup roadmap covering policy, compliance, systems, and people development.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership on all people, organizational, and culture matters.
  • Define the HR organizational structure; recruit, lead, and develop the HR & Admin Officer and Payroll & Timekeeping Associate.
  • Develop and own HR-related budgets, KPIs, and Board-level people reporting.

2. Labor Compliance and Statutory Governance

  • Ensure 100% compliance with the Philippine Labor Code
  • Maintain up-to-date registration and remittance compliance with DOLE (Rule 1020), SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and BIR (including issuance of Form 2316).

3. Policy Development and Employee Handbook

  • Draft, publish, and continuously update the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all HR policies.
  • Build and maintain a library of legally-compliant employment contracts: Probationary, Regular, Fixed-Term, Project-Based, Seasonal, Part-Time, and Consultancy.
  • Communicate policy updates to all employees and ensure signed acknowledgment of the Handbook and Code of Conduct.

4. Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning

  • Build and manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from manpower planning and job requisitions to sourcing, interviewing, offer, and onboarding.
  • Develop a recruitment pipeline through JobStreet, Indeed, Kalibrr, LinkedIn, employee referrals, school partnerships, and walk-in channels for both retail and back-office roles.
  • Develop and maintain a complete library of Job Descriptions for all positions across the group.

5. Onboarding and Employee Engagement

  • Design and implement a structured onboarding program (Day 1, Week 1, Month 1, Month 3, Month 6) for new hires.
  • Coordinate with Fortheo PH on product certification training for all customer-facing employees.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives including pulse surveys, recognition programs (Employee of the Month/Quarter), team huddles, and the annual Christmas party.
  • Build an engagement baseline and develop action plans to drive a target engagement score of at least 3.8 out of 5.0.

6. Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Oversight

  • Oversee payroll operations to ensure 99% or higher accuracy, on-time release every 15th and 30th of the month, and full statutory compliance.
  • Administer statutory benefits (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, 13th-month pay, holiday pay, leaves) and company-provided benefits (HMO, VL/SL, employee discount, etc,.)
  • Conduct annual compensation and benefits review and recommend salary adjustments.

7. Performance Management and Development

  • Implement and own the annual performance management cycle: goal setting, quarterly check-ins, mid-year and year-end appraisals.
  • Manage the probationary employee review process, including 30-day, 90-day, and 165-day reviews; issue regularization or non-regularization notices.

8. Employee Relations and Discipline

• Handle employee relations matters including grievances, conflict resolution, and disciplinary cases following the twin-notice rule and due process under Articles 297 to 299 of the Labor Code.

•Issue Notices to Explain, conduct administrative investigations, and prepare Notices of Decision in coordination with management and counsel.

•     Mediate workplace disputes; maintain a confidential and accessible grievance procedure.

9. HRIS, Records Management, and Data Privacy

•  Evaluate, select, and implement a Philippine-localized HRIS platform (e.g., Sprout, Salarium, PayrollHero, or equivalent).

•   Migrate paper-based 201 files to a secure, organized digital records system.

•  Ensure full compliance with the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) in handling employee and applicant data; coordinate with the Data Protection Officer.

•   Generate accurate, timely HR reports and people analytics dashboards for the President and senior leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Business Administration, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
  • At least eight (5) years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of three (2) years in a managerial or HR Business Partner capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up or restructuring an HR function from the ground up is highly preferred.
  • Prior HR experience in retail, distribution, FMCG, consumer electronics, or multi-branch operations is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on exposure to Philippine labor compliance, payroll administration, employee relations, and labor case management.

Other Requirements

• Willing to work onsite at the Head Office with regular travel to branches in Caloocan, Manila, and future locations.

•  Available to start within thirty (30) to sixty (60) days from offer acceptance.
