The General Accounting Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting records, with a primary focus on Cost of Sales, Inventory Reconciliation, Cash Advances, and Bank Reconciliation. This role supports the Finance Department in maintaining the integrity of financial data and ensuring proper internal controls across all store and head office transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Cost of Sales (COS) Monitoring
• Prepare and analyze monthly Cost of Sales reports.

2. Inventory Reconciliation

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reconciliations for all branches.
• Validate inventory movements such as issuances, returns, adjustments, and spoilages.
• Coordinate with stores for missing, incomplete, or erroneous inventory submissions.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts and audit checks when necessary.

3. Cash Advance Monitoring

• Review, record, and reconcile all employee and store cash advances.
• Ensure timely liquidation and proper documentation of all advances.
• Flag delays or inconsistencies and coordinate with concerned departments.
• Maintain an updated cash advance ledger and ageing report.

4. Bank Reconciliation

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with banks for deposit issues, charges, and adjustments.
• Ensure that all receipts and disbursements are properly recorded.

Other Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assist in audit requirements (internal and external).
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
• Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain to validate variances.
• Ensure accuracy of receiving, transfers, spoilages, and usage reports.
• Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between system data and actual reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• With experience in cost accounting, bank reconciliation, or general accounting is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
