We are seeking a Game Mathematician to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will apply mathematical principles to help design and develop games. You will analyze game mechanics to ensure the game is fair, fun, and balanced, while predicting player behavior and optimizing gameplay to enhance the overall player experience. Working closely with developers and designers, you’ll help create engaging games that are both enjoyable and mathematically sound. A strong understanding of mathematics, statistics, and computer science is essential to ensure the game mechanics are well-designed and deliver a fun experience for players.

Key Responsibilities:

Designing Game Mechanics

• Creation of game mechanics from scratch, from conceptualization to mathematical modeling and implementation.

• Develop mathematical models and core mechanics for new and existing games, including win frequencies, volatility profiles, and gameplay dynamics.

• Collaborate with game designers and developers to ensure math models support engaging and balanced gameplay experiences.

Balancing Game Economies

• Design and maintain in-game economies by determining the cost, frequency, and availability of in-game items, currency, and rewards.

• Ensure economic sustainability by preventing inflation or player exploitation through rigorous simulation and forecasting.

Calculating Probability and Return-to-Player (RTP)

• Determine precise probabilities for game outcomes (e.g., bonus triggers, symbol distributions, loot drops).

• Calculate and optimize RTP to meet product, market, and regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.

• Build and test volatility models to align with intended player experiences.

Ensuring Fairness and Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure that all game models comply with applicable gaming laws, technical standards, and certification requirements.

• Document and present mathematical models for certification by regulatory authorities and testing labs.

• Conduct fairness audits and support RNG (random number generator) integration.

Game Performance Analysis and Optimization

• Analyze game performance data (e.g., player retention, win/loss curves, session time) to identify patterns and recommend improvements.

• Work closely with data analysts, QA, and product managers to iterate on game features and mechanics based on player behavior.

Simulation and Prototyping

• Create simulations and automated testing tools to validate game models before production.

• Run Monte Carlo simulations or other statistical tests to verify the accuracy and consistency of theoretical calculations.

Documentation and Communication

• Produce detailed documentation of game logic, math models, payout structures, and theoretical expectations.

• Communicate complex mathematical concepts to non-technical stakeholders including game designers, artists, and producers.

Innovation and Research

• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging mechanics.

• Propose innovative game mechanics or mathematical frameworks that enhance player engagement and product uniqueness.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong understanding of mathematics, statistics, and probability theory.

• Knowledge of computer science principles and their application to game development.

• Ability to model, predict, and optimize player behavior using mathematical techniques.

• Experience with game mechanics design and balancing.

• Familiarity with game development tools and programming languages (such as Typscript, C++, etc.) is a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Passion for games and a deep understanding of what makes gameplay engaging and fun.

• Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Previous experience in game development or a similar role.

• Experience with data analysis and game testing.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
