ELECTRICIAN – HOTEL

JOB SUMMARY
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the hotel's electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and facilities. The position ensures that all electrical works are performed safely, properly, and in accordance with established hotel standards and applicable safety procedures.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Electrical Maintenance and Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the hotel.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems, including power interruptions, faulty wiring, breakers, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
- Repair or replace defective electrical components as necessary.
- Conduct regular inspection of electrical panels, circuits, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and related equipment.
- Installation and Modification
- Install electrical outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, breakers, wiring, conduits, and other electrical components.
- Perform electrical wiring and connection works for hotel rooms, offices, common areas, service areas, and other facilities.
- Assist in electrical installation and modification projects as directed by the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
- Ensure that all electrical connections are properly installed, secured, terminated, and tested before the equipment or circuit is placed into operation.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct scheduled inspection and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
- Identify potential electrical hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.
- Maintain proper functioning of emergency lighting, exit lights, and other electrical systems supporting hotel safety.
- Troubleshooting and Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to electrical-related concerns reported by hotel departments.
- Diagnose electrical faults and perform necessary corrective action.
- Assist in emergency electrical repairs and restoration of electrical services when required.
- Coordinate with other Engineering personnel when electrical concerns involve mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or other building systems.
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow established hotel safety policies, electrical safety procedures, and work permit requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper tools when performing electrical work.
- Ensure that electrical work is performed safely and that circuits are properly isolated when necessary.
- Immediately report electrical hazards, damaged equipment, exposed wiring, or other unsafe conditions.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Record completed maintenance and repair activities in the appropriate maintenance log or work order system.
- Report findings, defects, completed repairs, and materials used to the immediate supervisor.
- Provide accurate information regarding electrical faults and corrective actions taken.
- Tools and Equipment
- Properly use, maintain, and safeguard electrical tools, testing instruments, and equipment.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are in safe working condition before use.
- Report damaged or defective tools and equipment to the supervisor.
- Other Duties
- Assist the Engineering Department in general maintenance activities when required.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Manager, or authorized hotel management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or equivalent; vocational/technical education in Electrical Technology is preferred.
- With relevant experience as an Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Maintenance Electrician, preferably in a hotel, commercial building, condominium, or similar facility.
- Knowledgeable in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, installation, and preventive maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and understand basic electrical diagrams and wiring plans.
- Must have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Physically capable of performing electrical maintenance work, including climbing ladders and working in confined or elevated areas when necessary.
- Willing to work on a shifting schedule, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required by hotel operations.
- Must be safety-conscious, reliable, and able to follow instructions from the Engineering Department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NC II in Electrical Installation and Maintenance or equivalent certification.
- Previous experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with hotel electrical systems and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Basic knowledge of applicable electrical safety standards and practices.
