The Tower Crane Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of electrical systems associated with tower cranes and related lifting equipment. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient crane operations in compliance with UAE safety regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and company procedures.

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on tower crane electrical systems.
  • Inspect and maintain electrical panels, wiring, motors, contactors, relays, sensors, limit switches, encoders, and safety devices.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults affecting crane performance.
  • Replace defective electrical components and ensure proper functioning of all systems.
  • Assist in the erection, climbing, dismantling, and commissioning of tower cranes.
  • Install and connect electrical power supplies and control systems.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of crane electrical systems before operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, control, and communication systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, clamp meters, and other testing equipment.
  • Attend breakdown calls promptly to minimize crane downtime and project delays.
  • Support the maintenance team during emergency repairs and recovery operations.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed in accordance with UAE regulations, project safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Verify the functionality of emergency stop systems, overload protection devices, limit switches, and other safety components.
  • Maintain lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, test records, and repair documentation.
  • Record spare parts consumption and recommend replenishment requirements.
  • Report recurring faults and suggest preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate with crane operators, mechanics, site engineers, and project management teams.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding crane electrical issues.
  • Work closely with equipment suppliers and manufacturers when specialized support is required.


Requirements

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, Electromechanical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in tower crane electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in construction, heavy equipment, lifting equipment, or industrial machinery is preferred.
  • Previous GCC/UAE experience is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of tower crane electrical systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with PLC systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), AC/DC motors, and control circuits.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding and electrical testing techniques.
  • Knowledge of tower crane safety systems and operational requirements.
  • Familiarity with Potain, Liebherr, Zoomlion, Terex, or similar tower crane brands is an advantage.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
