An Electrical Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment, working with blueprints, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring safety, often in commercial, industrial, or residential settings, requiring skills in diagnostics, tool use (like multimeters), and interpreting schematics to keep power, lighting, and communication systems functional. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Installation: Setting up and connecting wiring, circuits, outlets, lighting, and other electrical components.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Inspecting, diagnosing, and fixing issues with electrical apparatus, equipment, and systems, including replacing parts like circuit breakers.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying problems in electrical systems using testing devices (ammeters, voltmeters) and technical diagrams.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and applying electrical and electronic blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Calibration: Calibrating instruments and testing equipment for accuracy.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to all workplace health, safety, and electrical codes.
  • Collaboration: Working with contractors, architects, or electricians to plan and execute projects.
