Vehicle Operation and Safety:

• Operate heavy trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure operational safety, identifying and reporting any maintenance needs.
• Ensure adherence to company policies on safety, including wearing seatbelts, observing speed limits, and following designated routes.

Cargo Handling:

• Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent damage or accidents during transport.
• Verify all cargo is accurately documented and ensure any hazardous materials are transported according to regulatory standards.
• Handle paperwork and delivery documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company requirements.

Route Management and Scheduling:

• Plan and follow the most efficient routes based on delivery schedules, road conditions, and weather forecasts.
• Coordinate with dispatchers to communicate delivery times and address any issues that may delay delivery schedules.
• Keep detailed logs of driving hours and vehicle performance, as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and company policy.

Customer Service:

• Maintain a professional demeanor with clients and provide excellent customer service during delivery interactions.
• Address any client questions or concerns regarding shipments and escalate issues as necessary.

Compliance and Record-Keeping:

• Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
• Complete and submit necessary records, such as trip logs, fuel receipts, and maintenance reports.

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements.
• Proven experience as a truck driver; experience in long-haul driving preferred.
• Strong knowledge of applicable driving and safety regulations.
• Physical ability to load and unload cargo, perform maintenance checks, and drive for extended periods.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
