Description

Responsibilities:

  • Backup and Recovery: Establish backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and ensure business continuity. Test backup procedures regularly to verify reliability and effectiveness.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for database access control, encryption, and auditing. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and industry standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, query inefficiencies, and resource contention issues in databases. Optimize database configurations, indexes, and queries for improved performance.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Set up monitoring tools to track database performance, health, and availability metrics. Configure alerts to notify stakeholders of potential issues or anomalies.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and pipelines to automate database provisioning, configuration, deployment, and migration processes. This may involve using tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or custom scripts.
  • Continuous Integration (CI): Integrate database changes into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring that database schema changes, data migrations, and other database-related modifications are tested and validated automatically.
  • Continuous Deployment (CD): Implement automated deployment processes for database changes, coordinating with application deployment pipelines to ensure consistency and reliability across environments.
  • Version Control: Manage database schemas, scripts, configurations, and other artifacts in version control systems (e.g., Git), enabling collaboration, change tracking, and rollback capabilities.
  • Capacity Planning and Scaling: Analyze database usage patterns and performance trends to anticipate capacity requirements. Scale database resources (e.g., storage, compute) as needed to support application growth and user demand.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to facilitate collaboration and skill development.

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Systems, related field or equivalent working experience preferred
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience with database administration
  • Proficiency with database languages such as SQL and SQL Server Tools
  • Analytical mindset
  • Attention to detail
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledgeable in Powershell and Linux shell scripting
  • Knowledgeable in database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring
  • Hands-on Experience with databse standards and end-user applications
