Earn Extra Cash: Video Contributor for Construction & Workshop Staff

In addition to our core business, Workstream is home to a small, fast-moving Robotics team focused on advancing the next generation of artificial intelligence and robotics. We partner with a leading AI and robotics company to produce high-quality, large-scale egocentric (first-person) video datasets that help train advanced AI models.

What We Offer

This is a project-based independent contractor opportunity designed to provide supplemental income. 

• Earn USD $3.50 for every hour of approved video footage submitted.
• Compensation is based on approved video submissions, not hours worked.
• Videos are reviewed to ensure they meet Workstream's quality and project requirements before payment is approved.
• Payment schedules and submission guidelines will be shared during onboarding.

Workstream is seeking individuals currently working in construction sites, repair workshops, auto shops, carpentry/woodworking facilities, or skilled trade environments to participate in a first-person video data collection project.

In this role, you will wear a lightweight head-mounted camera harness during your regular working shift to record your natural, hands-on tasks. The video footage you collect will be used to train and validate next-generation robotics systems, helping AI and autonomous robots learn real-world hand movements, object manipulation, and spatial awareness in food service environments.

This is a flexible, supplemental earning opportunity that allows you to earn extra income while performing your standard daily work routines

What You Will Do

• Record first-person videos while performing your normal work tasks (no computer, screen-based, repetitive work).
• Use the camera equipment provided by Workstream.
• Follow recording, safety, and privacy guidelines.
• Obtain approval from Workstream and permission from your workplace before recording.
• Upload videos through Workstream's platform.
• Maintain recording equipment and apply feedback to improve future submissions.
• Meet the minimum target of 30 hours per week. 

Activities You May Record (Workshop & Construction Settings)

You will film natural, continuous hands-on tasks in your workplace environment across any of the following areas:

• Tool Use & Fastening: Operating hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, pliers, ratchets) and power tools (drills, sanders, saws, grinders); driving screws, tightening bolts, and measuring materials.
• Assembly & Disassembly: Connecting parts, assembling furniture or structures, dismantling machinery, changing parts, wiring, or fitting components together.
• Object Handling & Material Transport: Grasping, lifting, placing, stacking, and rotating materials (lumber, pipes, metal sheets, boxes, tiles, dry blocks).
• Sorting & Inventory: Organizing hardware bins (nuts, bolts, nails, screws), grouping items by size or type, restocking tool racks, and arranging job site supplies.
• Surface Work & Finishing: Sanding, scraping, painting, applying adhesive/caulk, wiping down workbenches, and polishing surfaces.
• Site Maintenance & Cleanup: Sweeping shop floors, clearing debris, coiling hoses or extension cords, organizing workspace stations, and emptying scrap containers.

What We're Looking For

• Currently working in or have access to an approved commercial workplace
• Able to obtain permission from your workplace to record
• Comfortable wearing a head-mounted camera
• Able to follow instructions and quality standards
• Reliable internet and have a laptop/desktop for uploading videos
• Detail-oriented and responsive to feedback
