Job Description

Job Summary:

The IMPEX Manager oversees all import and export operations of the company, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies. This role manages the movement of goods across borders, coordinates with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, and ensures timely delivery while optimizing costs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all import and export activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation (invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin) is prepared and compliant with regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and carriers to facilitate smooth clearance and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
  • Keep updated with changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and duties.
  • Manage import/export licenses, permits, and certificates.
  • Lead,supervise, and mentor IMPEX staff.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor performance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Provide training on customs procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor freight costs, tariffs, and logistics expenses.
  • Negotiate rates with shipping lines, carriers, and freight forwarders.
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement process improvements to reduce costs and improve delivery timelines.
  • Prepare reports on import/export performance, compliance status, and costs.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide ultimely updates to management regarding shipment status and potential delays.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by the management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in import/export operations, preferably in manufacturing or trading environment.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, international trade laws, and shipping documentation.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.


AUTHORITY

  • Approve shipping schedules, carriers, and freight forwarders for company shipments.        
  • Authorize customs clearance documentation and related transactions.
  • Negotiate freight and logistics contracts within approved budget limits.
  • Initiate corrective actions for delays, compliance issues, or operational inefficiencies.
