Typesetter

Job Summary

The Typesetter is responsible for formatting and laying out manuscripts, books, journals, and other publishing materials according to established design, editorial, and printing standards. The position ensures that all text, images, tables, and other elements are properly arranged to produce accurate, readable, and visually appealing publications.

Key Responsibilities

• Format and typeset manuscripts, textbooks, children's books, journals, and other publication materials.
• Apply layout specifications, styles, templates, and formatting standards provided by the Editorial and Production Departments.
• Arrange text, images, tables, charts, and graphics to ensure readability and visual consistency.
• Prepare print-ready and digital publication files.
• Review layouts for formatting errors, inconsistencies, and typographical issues.
• Incorporate editorial corrections and revisions accurately and efficiently.
• Coordinate with editors, proofreaders, graphic artists, and production personnel to ensure project requirements are met.
• Ensure compliance with printing specifications, pagination, and publication standards.
• Maintain organized records and backups of project files.
• Meet production schedules and deadlines for assigned projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in Publishing, Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
• Proficiency in desktop publishing and layout software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of typography, page layout, and print production processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
