JOB PURPOSE:

Resort and Grounds Maintenance and Grasscutter Operator perform a variety of tasks to achieve a pleasant and functional outdoor environment. They are responsible for maintaining the gardens and plantings by ensuring that the grounds are attractive, orderly, and healthy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures that all gardens and plants are properly maintained.
• Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, grasscutters, tractors, blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws;
• Trim or pick flowers, trim or prune shrubs, trees, and other vegetation using shears, pruners, or chainsaws;
• Cultivate lawns and gardens;
• Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming, or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls;
• Water lawns, trees, or plants, using a portable sprinkler system, hoses, or watering containers;
• Follow landscaping designs as per the landscape architects’ design and the supervisor’s instructions;
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, groundcovers, trees, or shrubs using garden tools to improve landscape appearance;
• Prepare mixtures and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders;
• Mow or edge lawns using power mowers or edgers
• Remove debris from work sites by raking;
• Maintain or repair tools, equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning, and structures, such as fences, benches, etc.;
• Decorate indoor and outdoor gardens with hardscape materials such as stones, pavements, pots, etc.;
• Record and report information about the plant’s growth and development;
• Record and report equipment and facilities condition; and
• Record and report problems encountered on site.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least a high school graduate
• With experience in landscaping and grass cutting
• Must be physically fit and healthy- working often in varying weather conditions—hot sun, rain, or even chilly mornings
• Can lift heavy materials and tools
• Team player, and can communicate well with co-workers and customers
• With good moral character
