Job description:

Preparing construction plans and blueprints, including the materials required, detailed measurements, and step-by-step installation instructions for building contractors

Determining the type of material best suited for each task based on design plans and building codes, such as aluminum for roofing applications or rebar for concrete work

Performing calculations to estimate the number of materials required to complete a project

Coordinating with team members to schedule material delivery and maintain orderliness in construction activities

Applying coating materials to metal surfaces to improve resistance to corrosion

Sharing insights regarding design changes and recommending improvements to meet a client's expectations

Inspecting construction sites for potential safety hazards, such as damaged electrical wires, blocked exits, or protruding nails, that may be harmful to site employees

Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure the accurate translation of designs into construction plans

Participating in official engineering review procedures

Developing detailed 3D models and detecting model clashes

Overseeing the efforts of drafting technicians in developing contract drawings, maintaining records, and performing other statistical functions
