Key Responsibilities

Planning & Design

• Prepare structural design of the house (beams, columns, slabs, foundation)
• Ensure the design follows the National Structural Code of the Philippines
• Analyze loads (dead load, live load, wind, earthquake)
• Coordinate with architect for layout and functionality

Site Inspection & Investigation

• Check soil condition before construction (soil bearing capacity)
• Evaluate site safety, slope, drainage, and accessibility
• Recommend proper type of foundation

Permits & Documentation

• Prepare and sign/seal structural plans for submission
• Assist in securing building permits from the Department of Public Works and Highways or local LGU
• Ensure compliance with the National Building Code of the Philippines

Construction Supervision

• Monitor actual construction to ensure it follows plans
• Check quality of materials (cement, steel, aggregates)
• Ensure proper mixing, curing, and installation
• Coordinate with contractor, foreman, and workers

Quality Control & Safety

• Conduct regular inspections of structural elements
• Make sure the building is safe and stable
• Enforce construction safety practices on site

Cost Estimates & Materials

• Prepare cost estimates for structural works
• Recommend efficient and cost-effective materials
• Help avoid overdesign or underdesign

Project Management

• Monitor progress and timeline
• Solve on-site problems (design adjustments if needed)
• Ensure project stays within budget and schedule

Post-Construction

• Inspect finished structure before turnover
• Ensure no structural defects
• Provide recommendations for maintenance
