The Stevedore is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of cargo during Lift-On/Lift-Off (LoLo) and Roll-On/Roll-off (RoRo) vessel Operations. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, teamwork, and precision in handling cargo and equipment to ensure smooth and timely operations.


Qualifications:

  • At least High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • With experience in cargo handling, port operations, or stevedoring is an advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of basic safety protocols and hand signals used in port operations.
  • Able to work efficiency as part of a team.
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend Toolbox Meetings prior to vessel operations.
  2. Board the vessel and commence work only upon the Supervisor's authorization.
  3. Remove hooks and lashing materials from cargo and secure them properly.
  4. Handle wire slings, hooks, and other rigging equipment during crane operations.
  5. Position and secure hooks on tire plates as directed.
  6. Place dunnage to protect both cargo and truck chassis.
  7. Control and guide tag lines to stabilize cargo during lifting or lowering.
  8. Detach cargo upon landing on the dock and return gears to the vessel for reuse.
  9. Send operational signals to the winch operator when the designated signalman is unavailable.
