Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to serve as our technical expert. In a medical distribution setting, your role is the bridge between the manufacturer and the end-user. You will be responsible for ensuring that all imported medical machinery—ranging from diagnostic tools to life-support equipment—is calibrated, functional, and compliant with safety standards before it reaches our clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support & Installation

  • Perform unboxing, assembly, and initial testing of imported medical equipment.
  • Lead on-site installations at hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
  • Provide technical demonstrations and basic operational training to healthcare staff.

2. Maintenance & Repair

  • Execute Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure equipment longevity.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, electromechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Manage a "loaner" equipment pool for clients while their primary units are being repaired.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct electrical safety testing (EST) and performance verification using specialized testing tools.
  • Maintain meticulous service logs and equipment history files in compliance with ISO or local health department standards.
  • Report any recurring manufacturer defects to the Purchasing Officer for warranty claims.

4. Inventory & Parts Management

  • Identify and request necessary spare parts and specialized tools.
  • Assist the warehouse team in ensuring equipment is stored in climate-controlled environments as required by the manufacturer.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma, Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience with medical equipment. Experience with specific modalities (e.g., Imaging, Patient Monitoring, or Dialysis) is a plus.
  • Certifications: Professional certification (e.g., CBET) is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and safety analyzers.
  • Strong computer literacy for software-based diagnostic tools.

Soft Skills

  • Problem-Solving: A methodical approach to finding the "needle in the haystack" when equipment fails.
  • Communication: The ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users (doctors/nurses) clearly and patiently.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel to client sites and work in various clinical environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (medical machinery can be heavy).
  • Fine motor skills for handling delicate electronic components.
