Car Painter

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, mask, and prime vehicle surfaces prior to painting. Repair minor dents, scratches, and body imperfections.
• Color Matching & Mixing: Blend and mix paints using computerized color-matching systems to ensure precise OEM color matches.
• Paint Application: Apply base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes using professional spray guns and techniques.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished work for runs, sags, dust nibs, or uneven texture, performing buffing, polishing, and detailing as needed.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray equipment, spray booths, and tools in optimal working condition.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), paint booth ventilation, and hazardous chemical disposal.

Job Requirements

• Experience: 1–3 years of proven experience as an automotive painter or refinish technician in a body shop setting.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating spray guns, sanding tools, buffing equipment, and color-mixing systems.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of auto paint types (polyurethane, enamel, waterborne), primers, clear coats, and surface prep methods.
• Attention to Detail: Excellent eye for color precision, texture uniformity, and surface finish consistency.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to handle physical labor, stand for extended periods, and work while wearing respirators/protective gear.
• Education: High school diploma or vocational training/certification in automotive body repair and painting preferred.
